Recruiter awards, as listed in the National Membership Program, recognize those members who rise above others to recruit for the benefit of our Post as well as the organization. It is only through the tremendous efforts of individuals such as these that the Veterans of Foreign Wars will succeed in carrying out its mission this year. We are so honored that our Comrades Larry Kingston and John Miller were bestowed with this award.

Glenn Albert DiTillo, Iraq War Veteran

This award is for Veterans that have made a significant contribution to the City of Tonawanda or it’s residents. Glenn was awarded for his honorable service with the United States Marine Corps from 1996 to 1999, and re-enlistment with the Marine Corps Reserves until 2004.  Glenn is an active member of the Post and continues to educate and assist other Veterans in our community.

French Legion of Honor Medal Awarded

John Gojmerac, World War II Veteran

United States Army Third Infantry Division

Tonawanda Native and Lifetime VFW Member


Awarded specifically for his duties during the liberation of France. John landed in the first wave of infantry on the beaches of Southern France in Operation Dragoon, continuing northward across the entire length of the country to Strasbourg at the Rhine River border with Germany.


Fought with the 3rd Infantry Division in Italy, France and Germany. Awarded the purple heart, silver star, bronze star, combat infantry Badge, 4 Campaign Stars, 1 Arrowhead for invasions and the Presidential Unit Citation.

This award is for Veterans that have made a significant contribution to the City of Tonawanda or it’s residents. Sandy is Adjutant & Bell Jar Manager and also a dedicated volunteer. She takes the lead on and supports many of our Post events and activities that benefit our Community.
